I was hoping to get some actual AMA questions for Grimluk but I never did so I found an alternative. Below are some various questions I found for interviewing characters. If you’re interested in asking something about Grimluk, post a comment.

Questions

• What is your full name? Do you have a nickname (if so, who calls you this)?
  • Grimluk of Hunter’s Hollow. Some folks just call me Grim.

• Where and when were you born?
  • Hunter’s Hollow in New Gilead on the fifth of Ember Moon, 1056 Post-War.

• Who are/were your parents? (Their names, birthplaces, occupations, personalities, etc.)
  • Bakhor, former demon hunter, and Urgroz, the head cook of the Hollow. Ze was born in Reddagia, and he was born in Westlynth. I reckon Cenka can be pretty stoic but ze’s also pretty soft. Dad likes his jokes and his kitchen and they’re both passionate about what they do.

• Do you have any siblings? If you do, what are/were they like?
  • I didn’t before adopting Gwen Quinn. She’s smart, proved herself brave, and already has a fierce sense of justice. If the orcs still had a god, I’d pray to it to keep her away from hunting but that’s her choice now.

• Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place (home and location) and the person/people you live with.
  • I have a home in Hunter’s Hollow but I don’t live anywhere in particular. I travel. Usually alone.

• What is your occupation?
  • Like my birth parent, I am a demon hunter.

• To which social class do you belong?
  • Reckon hunters are kind of our own class given the history of the job.

• Are you right- or left handed?
  • Dominant right but I can use my left just fine.

• On what occasions do you lie?
  • Try not to. I’d rather not answer than outright lie but I reckon if a lie would protect someone, I’d be alright with it then.

• Do you have a motto? If so, what is it?
  • Just the demon hunter creed. “By will and arms, we vanquish the Abyss.”

• Do you have any annoying habits, quirks, strange mannerisms, or other defining characteristics?
  • Pardon but I’m not too sure how to answer this question. A love of puns from my father, maybe? I don’t rightly think about it much.

• What is your hair color and eye color?
  • Dark hair and eyes.

• What kind of distinguishing facial features do you have?
  • Friend, you’re talking to an orc. My entire face is distinguishing features.

• Do you have any physical traits that stand out (such as scars, birthmarks, tattoos, etc.)? If you have scars, how did you get them? If you have tattoos, why did you get them and what meaning do they have to you?
  • I’m an orc who hunts demons.
• In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any mortal being could do?
  • I’ve seen people sacrifice children to demons for power. I reckon that’ll do.

• Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
  • I kill demons. I will not kill a mortal and I can’t rightly think of a situation where I’d need to.

• What do you measure success in? (Money, career, husband/wife, children, happiness, etc.)
  • People helped.

• How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings in the company of others?
  • I s’pose I’m open enough in a general sense but not everyone needs to know my thoughts and feelin’s.

• Do you have any prejudices? If so, what are they and why do you have those specific prejudices?
  • I do not particularly care for politicians and self-proclaimed holy people. Both folks have a tendency towards power greed, though a few politicians are alright. Governor Feely seems a good man. Those who claim themselves holy? Never met one who didn’t have a demon behind ’em.

• Who or what would you die for, or otherwise go to extremes for?
  • I fight demons. Reckon that means I’d be willin’ to die for the whole of Arkod if the need arose.
• In general, how do you treat others (politely, as they treat you, by keeping them at a distance, with sarcasm, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
  • I try to treat everyone with respect. That can change depending on the person. A cultist doesn’t deserve much in the way of respect.
• How close are you to your family?
  • Reckon about as close as someone who travels can be. I do try to send letters home now for Gwen’s sake.

• Who is the most important person in your life, why?
  • Given what’s happened to her, that would probably be Gwen. She’ll need someone to train her in the field in a few years.

• Who is the person you respect the most, why?
  • Can’t rightly say it’s one person. My parents and my teachers all earned it.

• Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? What do you most value in your friends? Describe them with some basics like their personalities, how you met them, what you have in common, etc.
  • I’m happy enough to call folk friend. Reckon I have friends all over given my travels, even if I’ve only seen them once or twice.

• Have you ever been in love? If so, describe in some rough strokes what happened (love at first sight, unrequited love, ended up marrying him/her, ended with heartbreak, etc.).
  • Reckon so.

• What do you look for in a potential lover?
  • Don’t really look. Never gave it much thought. S’pose if the right person came along, I’d know it.

• Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
  • Fellow demon hunters. Though, on occasion, I turn to the people I’m tryin’ to help.

• If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
  • I would assume my family. I know Gwen misses me now.

• Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
  • I stand my ground when need be.

• Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
  • I can but most of my social situations are poker games.

• Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
  • Dealing with a whole town during a hunt can be…stressful. It can also be rewarding.

• Do you care what others think of you? Why or why not?
  • I care when I have to fight people to help them. Happens more than I’d like. I care when someone decides to call me that foul word. Otherwise, I’m a demon hunter. Mistrust is a part of the job.
